Jonathan pines for Julie, the most beautiful girl at school, though she has never noticed him. He befriends her brother Charles, and one night sneaks into Julie’s room to steal her diary. Inside he finds a hand‑drawn heart and the words “I love Jonathan.” Returning to Charles’s house, he learns the diary is Charles’s, so the confession was meant for him.
