With the Soviet Red Army closing in as World War II ends, a Polish doctor helps a group of concentration‑camp inmates escape. They take refuge in a forest, where they encounter other fugitives who have been hiding for months. Constantly terrified of German patrols, they stay hidden even as food dwindles and hope fades.
