Josef is a skilled violin maker who finds contentment in crafting instruments that bring joy to others. He lives a quiet life in his workshop within the courtyard of an old tenement building, having never experienced the ocean firsthand. For Josef, a small puddle in the courtyard serves as his sea, carefully preserved for the birds to drink. He lives alone with his dog, Pampeliška, and secretly harbors feelings for his lovely neighbor, Anežka. Wednesday chess games with his friend Václav, a charming piano tuner, are a highlight of his week.
