Jagannatham arranged the marriage to tighten his control through family alliances. As a wealthy but malicious man, he wanted to use his sister's marriage to his friend Narayana as a way to strengthen his power and influence. The plan was pushed forward with help from his associate Kotappa, setting the stage for later betrayals.

Early in the story, Jagannatham's manipulative nature is established through this alliance-building scheme.

Narayana and Kotappa conspired to frame Jagannatham in a murder case. They intimidated Parvati into giving a false statement against her brother, which helped secure a conviction against him. This false testimony led to Jagannatham being sentenced to prison.

The earlier alliance between Jagannatham and Narayana was a setup for this betrayal.

Parvati was coerced and intimidated by Narayana and Kotappa into giving false testimony against her brother. Under pressure and threats, she provided a statement that helped convict Jagannatham of the murder charge, even though it was untrue.

Mahalakshmi, described as a wise and protective figure, rescued Parvati from danger when Narayana and Kotappa plotted to kill her while she was pregnant. This intervention saved Parvati's life and allowed her to escape the city.

Mahalakshmi's protective role foreshadows her later alignment with the family against Narayana.

During the engagement ceremony, Jagannatham discovered that Ravi is actually his nephew - the son of his sister Parvati who was forced to leave the city after giving birth to Ravi. This revelation came as a surprise to everyone present.

Earlier references to Parvati fleeing the city with her newborn establish the connection that is revealed at the engagement.

When Jagannatham learned that Ravi is his nephew (his sister Parvati's son), he rejected the match because marrying his nephew to his own daughter would be inappropriate. The surprise and wariness caused him to distance himself from the engagement plan, creating a new conflict.

Mahalakshmi's earlier rescue of Parvati establishes her as a righteous figure who would later oppose Narayana.

Ravi grows up as an energetic but restless young man who bickers at every workplace and struggles to hold onto employment. His combative nature and quick temper cause him to clash with employers and coworkers, leading to frequent job losses.

This character trait sets up his eventual meeting with Jagannatham at his workshop.

Ravi saved Jagannatham from trouble caused by a dancer. Impressed by this rescue, Jagannatham hired Ravi to work in his workshop (shed). This job became the turning point that brought Ravi into Jagannatham's life and eventually led to his relationship with Chitti.

This event directly leads to Ravi meeting and falling in love with Chitti.

Ravi and Chitti initially clashed intensely - she was the daughter of Jagannatham who ran a hotel, and they bickered frequently. However, as they spent more time together through Ravi's work at Jagannatham's workshop, their mutual antagonism transformed into love, eventually leading to their engagement.

Their early feuds reflect the underlying tensions between their families that need resolution.

Jagannatham, Ravi, and Mahalakshmi executed a humorous but effective plan to teach Narayana a lesson for his past crimes. Through wit and strategy, they exposed his wrongdoing and brought consequences. This comic confrontation, combined with the revelation of past truths, loosened misunderstandings and led to reconciliation between the families.

The alliance formed after discovering their shared enemy enables this unified action.
