The head counselor, Tripper, is awakened by an alarm clock early in the morning. He puts on a space cadet helmet and announces to the camp counselors over the PA system, instructing them to get up and prepare for their duties.

Tripper and the staff round up the campers and load them onto buses despite some children exhibiting bad attitudes. This sets the tone for the summer as they prepare for their arrival at North Star.

During the campers' arrival, Tripper's staff is confronted by counselors from Camp Mohawk, who ridicule Spaz by pouring a milkshake over his head. This interaction highlights the competitive rivalry between the two camps.

Among the campers is Rudy, a shy boy who is being forced by his father to attend camp. He feels out of place, fearing he will not fit in or make friends during his stay.

Rudy participates in his first soccer game but accidentally scores a goal on his own team's net, leading to ridicule from his peers. Hurt and embarrassed, he decides to pack his bags and leave for home after the incident.

Tripper goes on an overnight trip with counselors-in-training, where he deepens his connection with Roxanne. This outing showcases the blending of camp staff personal lives amidst their responsibilities.

During the annual basketball game against Mohawk, the North Star team finds themselves at a disadvantage. In a moment of defiance, Tripper leads a prank on their rivals, making a statement despite the score.

On Parent's Day, Rudy's father does not show up, leaving Rudy feeling lonely. However, he spends quality time jogging with Tripper, solidifying their friendship as well as Tripper’s role as a mentor.

The much-anticipated Olympiad between North Star and Mohawk kicks off, with Mohawk taking an early lead due to their superior athletes. The pressure mounts as North Star grapples with the challenge of overcoming the odds.

With North Star behind in points, Tripper places his confidence in Rudy to compete in the final race after their top runner is injured. Rudy initially hesitates but ultimately rises to the occasion with Tripper's encouragement.

During the critical cross-country run, Rudy performs impressively, pacing himself against his rival. Once in the woods, he accelerates, gaining the lead and ultimately crossing the finish line first, earning his place as a camp hero.

Tripper and the CITs reflect on the victory at a celebratory campfire, showcasing camaraderie and the spirit of camp. The night highlights successes not only in games but in friendships forged over the summer.

As camp comes to an end, Rudy is invited to another camp but chooses to return to North Star, signifying his newfound confidence. The camp bids farewell to Morty, humorously stranded on a raft, wrapping up a memorable summer.
