Small-time criminal Mahi, portrayed by Mammootty, is released from prison earlier than expected, known for his reputation of overpowering adversaries under the cover of night. With a desire to assist fellow inmate Balan and his brother Satheesh, who desperately needs funds for a life-saving operation, Mahi looks for a way to help. His acquaintance, Giri, played by Suraj Venjaramoodu, suggests a job that could yield enough money for the operation.
In a twist of events, Thottappally Surendran, a vengeful figure with a history of conflict with Sivasankaran Pillai—who is serving a life sentence for the murder of Surendran's father—plans to settle the score during Sivasankaran's short-term parole. Surendran’s intricate scheme involves another individual taking the fall for his intended murder of Sivasankaran.
Seizing the opportunity, Mahi embarks on the mission alongside Giri, heading toward an island village. During their boat journey, they encounter Indu, the caretaker of Sivasankaran. The situation escalates when Thottappally Sugunan, Surendran's brother, harasses her. Mahi intervenes valiantly, delivering a swift kick to Sugunan, inadvertently causing the boat to capsize. In the chaos, Mahi rescues an unconscious Indu, making a hasty exit afterward.
Upon meeting Surendran, Mahi accepts the risky assignment for a hefty sum of ₹8,00,000. Mahi and Giri are directed to remain in the fishing village until Sivasankaran makes his appearance on parole. Their local assistance comes from Kannan Srank, played by Salim Kumar, who works for Surendran.
Under Surendran's orders, Kannan Srank devises a malicious plot to ruin Indu's reputation by accusing her of an affair with Mahi, resulting in her losing her harbor job. Fortunately, Devaki, portrayed by KPAC Lalitha, steps in to assist Indu, who begins to build a connection with Mahi. Mahi discovers that Indu's younger sister, Ammu, is actually in a relationship with Satheesh, complicating Mahi’s intentions.
Tension rises as Sugunan attempts to entrap Ammu in a fraudulent scheme. Mahi, stepping into the role of a protector, visits vengeance upon Sugunan, covering his face with his own mundu, and later targets Surendran with a mix of chili powder and sand to obscure their identities. The villagers, fascinated by the idea of a mysterious figure known as "Mayavi" behind these attacks, stir speculation. Kannan Srank, with falsified knowledge of the so-called Mayavi, adds to the intrigue surrounding Mahi's actions.
Using his newfound alias, Mahi exploits Kannan Srank to vindicate both Ammu and Indu while exposing the Thottappally brothers’ sinister motives. Consequently, Indu is reinstated at her job in the harbor, and Mahi cleverly arranges for medical support for Satheesh by offering protection to Sivasankaran in exchange for funds.
As Sivasankaran arrives, fully aware of the assassination plot against him, he commands Mahi and Giri to leave the area immediately. However, in a convoluted series of misunderstandings, Sivasankaran mistakes Balan for Mayavi during a hospital meeting, believing he has found a partner for his business operations. The plot thickens as Mahi attempts to deter Balan’s reckless actions, leading to a confrontation that ignites further conflict.
Ultimately, how Mahi strives to reveal the truth to Sivasankaran amid the unfolding chaos forms the crux of this exhilarating narrative, leaving audiences on the edge of their seats as the tale unravels.
