Gilles, a scholar, meets Guylaine, a bar waitress, on a Montreal beach and goes to the rough neighbourhood where her brother Bob works for gangster Matroni. After two thugs hijack a trailer of stolen car parts bound for dangerous Boyd, Guylaine’s friend Linda records the names in a letter to her mother. Bob is beaten, so Gilles reluctantly delivers the letter to Matroni’s auto‑wrecking yard.
