Two friends—a struggling musician and a perpetually depressed companion—drift through Greece and France, arriving in Paris empty‑handed. In the capital they spend nights in underground clubs, squat in homes shared with African immigrants, and eventually both fall for Mathilde, a blonde dancer, prompting them to follow her to New York.
