Monique, a popular singer, adopts the name Digna to flee her stepfather and his brother Gilbert, who killed her mother and want her dead for the inheritance. Presumed dead, she works as a waitress where Gilbert spots her and pursues her. Fleeing, she meets Carding, an Ermita thief, and cares for his children. After police arrest Gilbert and his father, Monique regains her estate, adopts Carding’s kids, and confirms their love.
