Mame Walsh vows on their dying mother's deathbed to protect younger sister Janie. Janie, however, constantly takes everything from Mame—clothes, boyfriends, even the money she’s trusted with at the store where they work. Still, Mame never breaks her promise and steps in each time Janie lands in trouble, determined to rescue her.
