In Kentucky's Henry County, the acclaimed author Wendell Berry returned to farm, write, and teach, and a quiet conflict unfolds. The documentary explores the challenges facing rural America fifty years later, as the region grapples with a critical choice: to uphold traditional agrarian values like simplicity, environmental stewardship, and strong local economies, or to continue down a path of industrial agriculture driven by debt and large-scale production. Through Berry’s insightful words and reflections from his writing desk, the film presents a passionate argument for a life deeply connected to the land and community.
