In 1959, a group of Iraqi revolutionaries attempts to kill Prime Minister Abd al‑Karem Kassim in Baghdad. Official reports claim the plot fails, forcing the conspirators into hiding. As secret police sweep the city with door‑to‑door searches, they flee to the countryside, where among the fugitives is Saddam Hussein, who will later become president.
