Alan Lomax (1915‑2002) spent his life recording ordinary people as they poured their heart and soul into song. A filmmaker retraces Lomax’s steps, traveling across Europe in a vintage Volkswagen—from the bleak Scottish islands to Spain’s arid interior and isolated Italian mountain villages. Along the way he meets those Lomax recorded and speaks with his friends and colleagues, while occasional glimpses of a frail yet content 86‑year‑old Lomax anchor the story. This musical road‑movie reveals the enduring beauty of folk music and the passion that drove Lomax’s legendary work.
