In this National Film Board short, a ballad singer narrates the annual Quebec log‑drive, where spruce timber is sent careening downstream. The surge is triggered by bursts of dynamite, guided by cant‑hooks, and accompanied by the rhythmic twirl of the loggers’ boots as they leap and guide the floating wood.
