On August 9, 1985, the space shuttle Churchill embarks on a joint British-American mission to investigate Halley's Comet. As the shuttle approaches the comet, the crew is eager to explore the mysteries it may hold, unaware of the dark fate that awaits them.

While examining the comet, the crew of the Churchill stumbles upon a massive 150-mile long alien spacecraft concealed within the comet's tail. Their initial excitement quickly turns to trepidation as they realize they've uncovered something far beyond their understanding.

Entering the alien spacecraft, the crew encounters hundreds of shriveled, bat-like bodies and three humanoid figures in glass containers. This startling discovery raises numerous questions about the nature of the aliens and what has happened to them.

The crew decides to recover the three humanoid aliens and begins their journey back to Earth. They are cautiously optimistic but oblivious to the dangers that lie ahead, as the aliens harbored dark secrets that would soon be unleashed.

As the shuttle nears Earth, Mission Control suddenly loses contact with the Churchill. Alarmed by the silence, they initiate a rescue mission, fearing the worst has occurred onboard the troubled spacecraft.

Rescuers find the Churchill completely destroyed by fire, with only the alien containers intact. This shocking scene prompts intense investigation and confusion as authorities try to piece together what transpired.

At the European Space Research Centre in London, the female alien awakens and drains the life force from a guard. Her escape begins a terror that will unleash chaos upon the unsuspecting world.

Meanwhile, a rescue pod containing Colonel Tom Carlsen is discovered in Texas. He recounts the horrifying account of how the crew was drained of their life forces by the menacing aliens, alerting the authorities of the impending disaster.

Carlsen, along with Col. Colin Caine, embarks on a mission to track the alien girl, leading them to a hospital in Yorkshire. They believe they have confined the alien within a sedated body, but the entire plan turns out to be a sinister trap.

Returning to London, Carlsen and Caine find the city in utter chaos, with a plague turning its inhabitants into rabid vampires. As the catastrophe unfolds, they realize the threat has escalated beyond what they anticipated.

As martial law is declared to contain the outbreak, Carlsen and Caine learn that even the Prime Minister is infected. The threat of the male vampires transforming the population into life-draining zombies becomes a grim reality.

Caine manages to find Dr. Fallada and learns vital information about the alien vampires’ weaknesses. Armed with knowledge, he prepares to confront the horror while attempting to save the city from total destruction.

Carlsen confronts the female vampire at St. Paul's Cathedral, revealing his psychic link to her. In a desperate act, he sacrifices himself to rid the world of the alien threat, unleashing a catastrophic burst of energy.

With Carlsen's sacrifice, the alien vampires are defeated, but London lies in ruins. As the remaining life forces are freed, Caine watches in despair, knowing that while London is saved, the aliens have not been fully defeated.

The alien ship, now powered by the stolen life forces, departs Earth’s orbit back to Halley's Comet. The implication looms that this race of space vampires will return once more, perhaps in 75 years.
