Set in the hopeful days of post‑war liberation, a young partisan‑teacher arrives in a remote Serbian village, where his wartime methods clash with traditional school practices. The children rally behind him, forging a deep friendship. Their perspective recalls the trauma of a generation scarred by war between autumn 1944 and summer 1945, while the distant atomic bombing in Japan signals a new era.
