In 1975, a young director redefined cinema with a terrifying story of a great white shark terrorizing a coastal town. Featuring a memorable score by John Williams, the film tapped into primal fears, becoming a cultural phenomenon comparable to Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho." The story follows a police chief and a marine biologist who join a shark hunter to confront the massive predator, forever changing how people view the ocean and its potential dangers. The film also subtly critiques American capitalism of the 1970s.
