Set in Galicia’s declining fishing and shipbuilding region, 18‑year‑old Lena lives with her hard‑drinking father Gorrión. She seeks a grant to study in Portugal, but he’s involved with a local drug‑smuggling gang that includes her godfather Gitano, the Portuguese Cachero and the silent Milio. After Gorrión is beaten for an alleged theft, Lena works for the gang to repay his debt, forming a tentative bond with Milio as they travel to Portugal, where danger unfolds.
