Following the Finnish Civil War, a troupe of actors, once celebrated as the Funniest Men in Finland, face execution for alleged crimes. Jaeger Lieutenant Nyborg, recognizing a potential injustice, believes they should be spared. To secure their lives, Nyborg proposes a risky plan: the actors must perform a comical show for visiting German General von der Goltz, hoping to earn a new trial. Facing starvation and despair, Parikka, the troupe’s leader, must summon all his creativity to produce a funny performance under impossible circumstances, with only a few actual actors and many stagehands available.
