In a Bavarian village, Xaver wishes to marry Gretel, yet her father Kohlhiesel demands that his older daughter Liesel marry first. Liesel’s fierce nature repels suitors. Seppel suggests marrying Liesel, getting rid of her, then courting Gretel. The scheme sparks comic misunderstandings as everyone tries to satisfy family expectations.
