Television director Jake Tanner travels to a small town to document a reality show about the local hockey team. He meets the show's producers, Lee and Phoebe, who will reshape the project around the town and its people. The atmosphere is uneasy as rumors of a recent murder begin to swirl.

Jaynie is found murdered in a brutal way: decapitated by a wire stretched between two trees. The locals try to gloss it as an accident, but the scene sets a chilling mood for the crew. Jake and the team begin to suspect foul play rather than misfortune.

Controversial celebrity Blanca Champion arrives with her assistant Nik to work on the production. Their presence excites some and unsettles others, especially as the murder case deepens. The crew senses this project might reveal more than they bargained for.

At the high school, a masked killer drags cheerleading coach Mrs Falls into a circular saw, leaving the town reeling. The death is quickly treated as another accident by locals, increasing the crew’s concern. Jake’s team begins to suspect a serial killer is targeting the community.

The crew visits Coach Hansen, Jaynie's father, who has just been released from prison for his wife’s murder. He becomes angered by their presence and expels the crew from his home. His presence casts a shadow over the investigation and raises questions about past violence in the town.

Connor tells Jake that Jaynie’s death was not an accident. The confession deepens the mystery and motivates the crew to dig deeper into the town’s secrets. Jake begins to view the investigation as a potential killer hunt rather than a pure reality show storyline.

The crew goes to a bar after filming a hockey match and discovers Mrs Falls's death is being treated as an accident. Coach Hansen later turns up and warns the crew to leave town, escalating the sense that something deadly is controlling the place. The town’s denial only fuels the crew's resolve to keep investigating.

Nik is sent to Hansen’s house to retrieve equipment and instead discovers Hansen’s body wrapped in plastic with his throat slashed. Before Nik can react, the killer ambushes him and brutally murders him with a pickaxe. The crew realizes the danger has hit close to home.

Blanca attempts to leave but discovers there’s no mobile signal in the town, trapping her in the story they’re filming. The isolation heightens the sense that the production is drawing deadly attention to its participants. The crew continues to document the escalating danger.

After a hockey match, Luke is attacked at the bar by the killer who hacks off his hand with a meat cleaver and then murders him. The violence intensifies, driving the survivors toward a desperate search for the killer’s identity. The crew begins to suspect the killer is among them.

Daphne discovers Greg’s car and soon finds Greg dead, decapitated by the killer. The killer then abducts Daphne, leaving the remaining crew to wonder who among them is next. Fear spreads through the survivors as they realize the killer is always watching.

The crew discovers that the killer has been filming the murders using a lipstick camera and that Lee has been murdered in the boiler room by the chain. The loss of Lee galvanizes the survivors to locate the killer before more people die. The motive becomes clearer as the killer’s plan unfolds.

Jake, Blanca, and Keir retreat to a cabin to regroup and locate the missing crew. Blanca tries to contact help via a CB radio while Jake and Keir scout the area where Daphne was last held. The plan is to stay ahead of the killer while gathering evidence.

In the school’s corridors, the killer is revealed to be Mike, an obsessed crew member who murdered to be close to Blanca. Keir fights to save Blanca as Mike closes in; Jake arrives and shoots Mike three times, seemingly ending the threat. The revelation confirms Mike was an escaped mental patient driven by an unhealthy fixation on Blanca.

The next morning, police arrive and place Mike’s body in a body bag. Jake learns that Keir survived her stabbing, and the truth about Mike’s belt of deception is revealed: he wore a bulletproof vest, explaining the apparent persistence of the killer. The town begins to grapple with the carnage as the case closes.
