After finishing police training, the shy Köppe is posted to a sleepy northern German town where wildlife roams and crime is scarce; in a region where foxes and rabbits say goodnight, there is little for a lawman to do. He passes the time investigating odd cow killings, courting two attractive women, and befriending a likable petty crook.
