Three schoolgirls are infatuated with Katsuta, Akira Kobayashi, a hard-edged yakuza of the Izu Clan. They cross paths with another powerful figure, Diamond no Fuyu, Daizaburo Hirata, a rival from the Yoshida faction, and the encounter quickly threads danger and desire through their lives. As Diamond gets a tattoo that marks him with the rough edge of the underworld, two of the girls retreat in fear, but Hanako, Sanae Nakahara the best friend of Sota Izu’s daughter, lingers to watch the shifting power and the strange codes that govern these men.
From there, the story deepens into the smoky haze of an illegal gambling den where Tetsu, Keisuke Noro the dealer, takes a liking to Hanako. A police raid breaks the scene apart, and Hanako is arrested but released with a warning, a small mercy in a world built on threats and leverage. The danger resurfaces when Tetsu encounters Hanako on the street and lures her into a version of the badger game: a brutal scheme in which a man is drawn into a hotel room and extorted by looming threats of blackmail if he does not pay. The plan collapses when the man pursues Tetsu out, leaving Hanako stranded and vulnerable in the crowded street.
Katsuta’s path collides with Tatsuko, a seasoned con artist he once exposed four years earlier, a meeting that rekindles old tensions and unresolved emotions. Tatsuko, portrayed by Chieko Matsubara, had once left a scar—literally and figuratively—after a partner slashed him in their escape, a wound he bears with a mix of memory and grudging respect. News of Hanako’s disappearance drives Katsuta to search, pressing Tetsu who feigns ignorance as the clock ticks on a city full of observers and opportunists. Their pursuit leads them to a hotel where a high-stakes gambling game unfolds, and Katsuta discovers that one of the players, Tatsuko’s husband, Okaru Hachi, Yūnosuke Itō, wins by peeking at the cards reflected in a cigarette case, a moment that underscores the cunning and deceit braided into every gesture.
Diamond, who has been hiding with Tatsuko, steps back into the light with a demand for answers about Hanako. The emotional currents run hot as Katsuta and Tatsuko grapple with their feelings for one another, even as the feud between the Izu and Yoshida clans heats up and Sato Izu grows suspicious of Katsuta’s loyalty. In a brutal flash, Katsuta slays a group of rude gamblers who stand in the way of his ascent, and he pushes deeper into the violent logic that governs this world. With no more to lose, he moves on a rival boss, insisting that the rival recognize Izu’s authority and Katsuta’s own courage.
In the end, the ripples of the clash prove fatal for the Izu clan as Diamond’s group exacts lethal revenge, and Izu himself falls to Fuyu, rewriting the earlier acts as moot. Katsuta justifies his brutal choices with a claim of honor, a hard-won moral code formed in the crucible of loyalty, betrayal, and the unyielding laws of the yakuza.
