It follows a white lion cub as it matures into the ruler of the jungle. The film repurposes material from the 1965 Japanese television series Jungle Emperor Leo, itself adapted from a 1950s manga, using the opening two minutes of the original series. The remainder of the feature consists of original animation created specifically for this release, giving the story a fresh conclusion while retaining the classic spirit of the source material.
