For thirteen years, girls have vanished from Mödling, a town near Vienna, fueling fear and mistrust amongst residents who criticize the police. Amidst this unsettling atmosphere, nineteen-year-old schoolgirl Jeanny encounters Johannes, a mysterious and charming tax consultant. Initially, their meeting feels threatening, but Johannes recognizes something special in Jeanny, offering her support and recognition after the loss of her father. He helps her succeed in school, boosts her self-confidence, and provides the appreciation she craves. An unusual romance blossoms between them, kept secret as the town's tensions rise and a militia forms, leaving Jeanny questioning Johannes' true nature.
