In August 1963, weeks before his death, Jean Cocteau recorded a final short film consisting of a single, sober shot of him speaking directly to the camera. He delivers a message to the youth of the future, sealed to be opened in the year 2000. The film was uncovered a few years early, presenting Cocteau aware of his own phantom‑like legacy as a modernist anachronism.
