The film’s climax pivots on the revelation that Jack has been secretly creating a clone of his wife, whom the story calls Layla 1. When the original Layla discovers the duplicate, she tries to confront Jack, only to be overpowered and forced to flee with the sick clone. Brady, the truck driver who has been shuttling the “cattle” for Jack, senses that something has gone terribly wrong and helps the two women escape. Their truck breaks down, they take shelter in an abandoned warehouse, and Jack tracks them down with a tracking necklace that the clone is wearing. After a brutal struggle, Jack murders Brady and corners the Laylas.

Facing imminent death, Layla 1 begs the original Layla to leave her behind so she won’t slow the other down. She extracts a promise that the original will go to their son Toby and make sure he is not ruined by Jack. The original Layla steals Jack’s car, speeds away, and eventually finds Toby living in the town of Fairview with his mother—Layla 0, a nurse who is in fact the real woman Jack divorced and barred from seeing him. While looking through Layla 0’s home, the original Layla realizes that she herself is also a clone, built from Layla 0’s memories and emotions.

Armed with this knowledge, she returns to the farm, feigning a desire to resume life with Jack. Unaware of the trap she’s walking into, Jack welcomes her back, but at the last moment the original Layla turns the tables and shoots him, ending his reign of manipulation. In the final scenes she is shown taking control of the cattle‑cloning operation, now thriving under her leadership. The film closes with her calling Toby to dinner, implying that she may have either cloned her son or plans to raise him herself, leaving the audience to wonder exactly how the new family will live beyond Jack’s shadow.
