Tiska Jones Dorothy Appleby, Taska Jones Mary Ainslee, and Baska Jones Ethelreda Leopold are three assertive members of society who stand to inherit a substantial fortune, but only if they marry by a strict deadline. Their would-be fiancés are away with the Fleet in Honolulu, unable to comply. Under the advisement of their sharp-witted lawyer Diggins, they hatch a plan to secure the inheritance by marrying three condemned inmates from the Mushroom Murder Gang, embodied by the Stooges: Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Curly Howard. By marrying the convicts, the sisters would collect the inheritance, and the inmates would be executed, clearing the way for the ladies to pursue their original engagements.
A last-minute reprieve arrives and clears the trio of guilt in the Mushroom murders, granting them freedom. The sisters, now widows, find themselves sharing their homes with their new husbands—the Stooges—who move into the Jones household and upend the orderly routines of the household, much to the sisters’ chagrin.
With the Stooges in tow, the sisters strive to elevate their husbands into polished high society, certain that Moe, Larry, and Curly are ill-suited for refinement. Yet the trio is determined to prove themselves capable of etiquette and decorum. The attempt to stage a flawless social gathering spirals into chaos, and Diggins’s scheme to discredit Moe backfires in a comic reversal.
Despite the upheaval, the Jones sisters refuse to bow to annulment and stand by their marriages. The guests, along with the Stooges, turn the tables on Diggins with a pie-filled retribution, uniting the household in a satisfying, if messy, finale.
