A 1914 silent film dramatizing the lives and customs of the Kwakwaka’wakw (Kwakiutl) peoples of the Queen Charlotte Strait on British Columbia’s Central Coast. Written and directed by Edward S. Curtis, it features an entirely Kwakwaka’wakw cast, the first feature‑length film made solely by Native North Americans; the next such effort was Robert Flaherty’s Nanook of the North eight years later.
