Impossible Love

In the late 1950s in Châteauroux, Rachel, a modest office worker, meets Philippe Arnold. Their brief but passionate affair results in the birth of their daughter, Chantal. Philippe leaves and refuses to marry due to class and religion, so Rachel raises Chantal on her own.

After Philippe departs, Rachel assumes sole responsibility for raising their daughter. She endures financial and emotional strain while focusing on Chantal's happiness. The absence of Philippe's formal commitment shapes their early years.

At sixteen, Chantal begins a relationship with Franck, an older man who had gained Rachel's cautious approval.
