I Married a Strange Person!

A brown bird pairs with a blue bird in midair, then they dive through a cloud and crash into a satellite dish on top of Grant Boyer's house. The impact sends a mysterious beam of energy down to Grant. This moment marks the birth of the strange power that will soon reshape reality around him.

Shortly after the incident, Grant begins to manifest reality-bending abilities that respond to his thoughts and fantasies. The power appears as odd changes to people and objects around him. He is now married to Keri, though the new powers unsettle their life.

Grant and Keri travel to her parents' home for a tense dinner as her parents express disapproval of the marriage. During the meal, Grant's powers lash out: insects invade Keri's mother and fictional musical instrumentation affects her father. Grant and Keri attempt to dance together despite the growing chaos.

Smilecorp, a powerful broadcasting company led by Larson P. Giles, signals a ruthless plan to boost ratings. The corporation sees Grant's abilities as a spectacle it can exploit. This subplot sets up a manhunt for the newly empowered man.

Back home, Grant witnesses his neighbor Bud Sweeny cutting the lawn and unexpectedly animates a blade of grass toward Bud. The grass tries to strike Bud with the mower, but Grant intervenes and turns the mower into a friendly caterpillar. This odd event marks the first clear demonstration that his powers can alter objects and lifeforms.

Terrified by Grant's powers, Bud calls the Jackie Jason Variety Show to report the phenomenon. The buzz spreads, bringing Grant into the public eye. The TV world moves toward a ratings gold mine.

In the dressing room before his appearance, Grant learns a boil on the back of his neck is the source of his powers. A stagehand covers it with a bandage to suppress the power. When the bandage falls off, an immense surge erupts, nearly destroying the studio and boosting its ratings.

Giles orders Col. Ferguson to bring Grant back alive as the city reels from the broadcast incident. Ferguson's pursuit accelerates, while Grant eludes capture with help from his friendly caterpillar servant and by hiding at Solly Jim's home. Keri tries to locate Grant and ends up heading toward her parents' house.

Solly betrays Grant by tipping off Ferguson to his location. Keri, though, discovers the truth by listening in at her parents' house and orchestrates her escape. The couple becomes a fugitive as Smilecorp closes in.

Solly's plan to implant the boil into himself ends in disaster when the boil rejects him, tearing him apart. Ferguson retrieves the detonated lobe and uses it to restore his human form, only to kill himself in the process. Larson presses for control of the power, while Keri and Grant race to thwart them.

Keri disguises herself as a nurse to steal back the boil and flee with Grant. They crash out of a window under gunfire, with a parachute improvised by Keri and aided by their caterpillar ally, who becomes a butterfly. The couple battles Smilecorp forces and fights to survive.

Larson's head swells and broadcasts across all screens as he tries to seize total control. The butterfly-assisted strike pierces Larson's ballooned head, causing a spectacular explosion. A dog later consumes the boil, gaining bone-creating power, while Grant and Keri return home and the house levitates, with Keri showing signs she may gain powers from living with Grant.
