Retired Jailor Govind Kapoor lives with his family, which includes his older son Aman, his younger son Akash, Govind’s brother, and four mischievous grandchildren. The peace of their routine is shaken when Vani, Akash’s college girlfriend, arrives at their home with a child named Gehna and makes a startling claim: Akash is Gehna’s father. Akash vehemently denies the assertion, and the family is pulled into a delicate, escalating situation that threatens to disrupt their tightly knit life.
To keep the family’s secrets hidden, Akash enlists the help of his coworker Anjali Tiwari. Anjali is married to Radhe Shyam Tiwari, a lawyer who is suspicious by nature and quickly begins to suspect that his wife might be involved with another man. He overhears conversations about the child and, driven by doubt, misreads the situation as an affair between Anjali and Akash. He starts following clues that he believes connect Akash to his wife, creating a growing undercurrent of tension that threads through every scene.
A flashback reveals the history between Vani and Akash: they loved each other, but Vani left suddenly, leaving Akash heartbroken. The two attempt a DNA test to determine paternity, yet their inability to decipher the medical terminology leaves them without a conclusive answer. In a bid to protect his own position and reputation, Akash hatches a plan to keep Vani away from the family by arranging pranks through his nieces and nephews. One prank unintentionally injures Gehna, and in a surprising act of self-sacrifice, Vani steps forward to take the blame, winning the affection and trust of the children. Her act transforms her role in the family from a stranger to a nanny and a friend to the Kapoor grandchildren.
As the engagement approaches, Akash is set to marry Bajaj’s daughter, a liaison that connects him to a friend of Govind. In a bid to keep Vani from the ceremony, Akash attempts to remove her discreetly, unaware that Bajaj has invited her as well, mistakenly assuming she will be the new teacher for the grandchildren. Midway through the bridal preparations, Akash changes out of his wedding attire in a moving car with Anjali. Tiwari witnesses this, interpreting it as an intimate betrayal between Anjali and Akash, a misunderstanding that fuels his anger and sense of betrayal.
Akash and Anjali attend the engagement, but when Anjali sees Vani, the tension explodes. Vani is escorted back to the Kapoor home by a family member, claimed to be because Gehna was injured, and Akash’s engagement proceeds. Tiwari confronts the duo, but each misreads the other’s knowledge, and Akash and Anjali decide to move on, unnecessarily escalating the sense that a hidden affair is at play. Tiwari’s suspicions intensify, and he makes a fatal decision to confront Akash, first landing himself in the hospital after a failed attempt.
In a crucial turn, Akash hires the cafeteria manager from their past as a forger to pose as Vani’s husband and to supply forged documents. The second attempt by Tiwari to kill Akash collides with the forgery, further complicating the plot when the forged papers are damaged. A mysterious stranger then meets Vani in secret and urges her to be present at a ceremony that would bear her and Akash’s mark.
The wedding reception becomes chaotic when Tiwari, heavily drunk, blurts out the supposed affair between his wife and Akash. In the ensuing confusion, the Kapoor family learns the truth about Vani and Gehna’s presence, and the bride’s family calls off the engagement. Akash, in a drunken moment, tries to coerce Vani into telling the truth, but she steps forward and reveals not only the truth, but also that Gehna is neither hers nor Akash’s—Gehna is the child of Vani’s deceased sister, and Akash’s elder brother Aman is Gehna’s legal guardian.
Vani then decides to leave with Gehna, and the Kapoor family realizes that a resolution must be found. They come to understand that Vani and Akash should marry, and they set out to locate Vani. Their search proves fruitless at first, as they discover that Vani has already married someone else. In a final twist, Vani hands Gehna over to Aman and a stranger who calls himself Premnath Pammu—the director of a TV project—interrupts the scene and explains that the supposed wedding was part of a televised production. He asks the Kapoor family not to disrupt the set, noting that Vani’s absence has complicated shooting schedules. With the truth finally acknowledged, the family reconciles, and Akash and Vani are united in marriage, sealing a resolution that honors the bonds they share.
