Maysam Mkhamlbaf follows his sister Samira with an ever‑present camera, capturing her from a one‑month‑old infant crying in her mother’s arms in a film by their father, to her first conscious role at eight in the Pakistani movie “Cyclist.” The documentary tracks her teenage debut in “Apple,” her visits to imprisoned girls, the replacement of professional actors with locals in “Blackboard,” and her Cannes appearances in 1998 and 2000.
