In a quiet Ohio crossroads, Louise and her bachelor brother Chester run a modest country store. Their dull lives are disrupted when a strange figure, the Mystery Man, visits and cryptically summons them to New York to visit their long-estranged Uncle Abner. They interpret the summons as fate and eagerly set off.
