Though neighboring powers constantly eye its fertile plains, Hortensia has avoided war for centuries by relying on its two principalities—Olivier and Camelia—which function as sword and shield. On December 5, 767, however, Camelia unexpectedly rebels against Hortensia, igniting a crisis that threatens the kingdom’s hard‑won peace.
