A highly personal exploration of cinema history, directed, written and edited by Jean‑Luc Godard at his Swiss home in Rolle (1988‑98). The film is a monumental collage built from film fragments, texts, quotations, photographs, paintings, music, sound and varied readings, presenting a critical, beautiful, melancholic vision of the art of filmmaking.
