Suraj, a police inspector with a modest income, falls in love with Seema, the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Their relationship quickly meets disapproval from Seema's father due to class differences. Amrish manipulates Seema's feelings, creating the impression that Suraj is only after money.

Seema discovers she is pregnant with Suraj's child. Amrish's scheming intensifies the rift between the lovers. After Seema's father dies, she leaves for the Himalayan region with the unborn child.

In the Himalayas, Seema gives birth to Abhay. Abhay grows up under the shadow of his mother's tale of betrayal. He becomes a devotee of Lord Shiva and mentally calls Suraj 'Himalay Putra'.

Abhay grows up believing his father abandoned them, reinforced by his mother's version of events. He vows to locate Suraj and settle scores for his mother's sorrows. His focus remains on the mission rather than conventional romance.

Abhay develops feelings for Esha, the neighbor's daughter, but his pursuit of Suraj remains his primary objective. He is torn between love and revenge, and his devotion to Lord Shiva shapes his choices. Esha's presence adds a personal stake to his quest.

Abhay's search leads him toward Suraj, who has become the Assistant Commissioner of Police. He remains determined to confront his father and confront the past. The pursuit sets up the eventual reunion.

Suraj leads the police against a smugglers' gang headed by Rana. During their tangential paths, Suraj and Abhay cross, and Suraj saves Abhay's life, creating an unlikely bond. This act softens the tension between father and son.

Abhay brings Suraj to his home and introduces him to Seema. The reunion is dramatic enough to stun both parents after twenty years apart. They decide not to reveal their past to Abhay to protect him from pain.

The smugglers' activities create a crisis that forces Abhay to learn that Suraj is his father. The revelation strains family loyalties and tests everyone's resolve. Despite the shock, the truth helps tie the past to the present.
