Hercules

Hercules intervenes when Iole loses control of her chariot, pulling her from danger and restoring order. The rescue occurs on the road toward Iolcus, where Iole is a princess and daughter of King Pelias. The act establishes Hercules as her protector and ally.

Iole recalls the day a murderer's procession is brought before a trial, with Eurysteus in the background. The memory foreshadows political danger around Pelias's court. It also hints at the murky tensions that will lead to murder and intrigue.

Chirone, Hercules' teacher and ally, had quarreled with King Aeson. Later that day Aeson is murdered, and Chirone becomes a prime suspect by association. The tension between them drives the investigation.

Eurysteus remains hidden, known only to Pelias. This secrecy keeps the truth of the murder obscure and feeds future intrigue.

Ephesus, Iole's brother, joins Hercules in the hunt for a lion ravaging villages. The beast kills Ephesus, deepening the tragedy and giving Pelias another pretext to blame Hercules. The event heightens the palace's tension toward Hercules and Jason.

Pelias orders Hercules to redeem himself by killing the Cretan Bull. Hercules accepts the dangerous challenge and sets out to prove his worth.

Hercules defeats the Cretan Bull and returns to meet Jason and Chirone, who have been hiding. Chirone is gored by the Bull, and his last wish is that Jason seize the throne. He refuses to tell who killed Jason's father.

Jason travels with Hercules but loses one sandal on the road. A prophecy warns that someone wearing a single sandal could threaten Pelias's rule. This strains trust and pushes them toward another perilous quest.

Pelias sends them on a voyage to retrieve the Golden Fleece, offering kingship as the prize. Eurysteus joins the expedition as part of the retinue. The voyage marks a shift from personal vengeance to legendary adventure.

On the three-month voyage, the party encounters the Amazons at sea; Hercules drugs and abducts them, altering the alliance and setting a dangerous precedent.

They sail to Colchis and clash with Colchid warriors. Jason escapes into the fleece task and defeats a dragon to win the fleece. On the back of the fleece, written in blood by Jason's father, is a condemnation of Pelias.

Returning home, the fleece and Eurysteus are missing, so the crew cannot produce the fleece to challenge Pelias. A fight erupts between the crew and palace guards, and Hercules is chained during the skirmish.

Iole discovers her father poisoning himself and burning the fleece; she catches him in the act. The act exposes Pelias's guilt and ends his plot.

Hercules breaks free from his chains and defeats the palace guards. The fleece's testimony is taken seriously, sealing Pelias's downfall and allowing Jason to be named king.

With Jason crowned, Hercules and Iole sail away together on their honeymoon, to the joy of the crew. The voyage marks the final reconciliation as Jason's kingship stabilizes Iolcus.
