Why this book?

The filmed recording preserves Cliff Richard and Frank Dunlop's stage musical centered on Heathcliff, itself built from Wuthering Heights. It follows his arrival at the Earnshaw home, bond with Cathy, Hindley's abuse, Thrushcross Grange, Cathy's marriage to Edgar, Heathcliff's return, revenge, and the lovers' destructive afterlife, while songs by John Farrar and Tim Rice fill emotional and chronological gaps. Dialogue was drawn from Brontë, but the production narrows the two-generation novel around its male lead and romantic spectacle. The CSV's comic-strip source was a false title collision; this is the corrected literary relationship.
