Detectives hunt a serial killer while an eccentric older woman, obsessed with “Murder, She Wrote” and “Matlock,” frames her brutal, controlling lover for the murder of a young girl. She later recants, but authorities dismiss her. When the real killer leaves clues—signing messages with happy faces—her warnings finally gain attention.
