Gomorrah

In Naples in 2004, gangsters are relaxing in a tanning salon when an assassination erupts between the Di Lauro Camorra clans. The killing triggers the Scampia feud between the Di Lauro faction and the secessionists led by Raffaele Amato. The clash turns Naples into a volatile battleground, pulling ordinary people into the violence.

The film follows five lives touched by organized crime as the war intensifies. Each story shows how loyalty is tested and everyday routines are upended by threats, witnessed violence, and shifting alliances.

Don Ciro, a timid middleman who distributes money to imprisoned Di Lauro families, is ambushed during a routine delivery by secessionists. They threaten him to switch sides and demand payment in the form of turning on his former associates. They raid the money location, killing everyone but Ciro and taking most of the cash; he walks away blood-splattered and uncertain of his future.

Totò, a 13-year-old grocery deliverer, is pulled into the gang when he returns a bag of drugs and a gun. His initiation in a cavern test involves him being shot while wearing a bulletproof vest to prove courage. The episode marks his entry into the violent world surrounding the feud.

As the feud worsens, Totò's peers face threats and violence in the streets. One of his gang members is killed in a drive-by shooting, underscoring the cost of loyalty in Scampia. The neighborhood becomes a constant backdrop of danger.

Totò's gang decides to seek retribution against Maria, whose son has joined a secessionist clan. Totò had delivered groceries to her, and he is tasked with luring her out of her apartment. Maria is killed in the ensuing attack, highlighting the personal nature of the town's vendettas.

Roberto, a waste-management graduate, and Franco run a cheap illegal disposal operation for northern industrialists. A drum of toxic chemicals spills onto a driver, exposing the risks of their corrupt practices. The scheme thrives on exploiting the countryside, even as it poisons the land.

The duo convinces a family of farmers to bury the waste in their land to erase debts. An elderly farmer gifts Roberto peaches, which later are revealed to be contaminated. Roberto decides he cannot poison the earth any longer and quits, walking away along a desolate road.

Pasquale's secret training of Chinese garment workers is discovered, and a drive-by shoots the Chinese associates. He survives and resigns from his job, ending that chapter of his life.

While working as a truck driver, Pasquale sees Scarlett Johansson on TV wearing one of his dresses. He smiles wryly at the sight, then drives on, reflecting the odd confluence of fashion and crime in his world.

Marco and Ciro, aspiring gangsters, imitate movie criminals as they rob African immigrants at the Hotel Boomerang in Castel Volturno. Their audacious stunt draws the attention and warning of the local mob chieftain. The brush with real crime foreshadows a harsher fate.

Ignoring warnings, they steal weapons from a Camorra stash and spend their loot firing at the banks of the Regi Lagni canal estuary. The reckless behavior earns them more enemies and raises the stakes for their survival.

Zio Vittorio asks them to return the weapons and murder Peppe 'O Cavallaro for him. They accept the contract and inadvertently walk into a trap. The ambush reveals how easily bold talk becomes deadly.

They are ambushed and killed by Giovanni, Bernardino, Vittorio and others at the abandoned beach resort. The last scene shows their bodies being carried away by a front-end loader. The violence of the Camorra war closes their story arc.
