George Formby plays mechanic‑turned‑Home Guard lance‑corporal George Singleton, whose rivalry with fellow Guard Ronald Shiner fuels comic mayhem. After a bungled raid to steal a Vickers gun costs him his stripe, George and evacuee Irene (Vera Frances) devise “Plan B”: building their own improvised tank. Directed by Marcel Varnel, the 1943 British comedy also stars Dinah Sheridan and blends wartime humour with inventive slap‑stick.
