Gandahar

An invasion by the Men of Metal devastates Gandahar, turning villagers into stone. The statues are collected and transported to the enemy's hidden base, where captives are processed for use by the army.

In Jasper, the Council of Women orders Sylvain to uncover the source of the assault. He leaves with a sense of duty, determined to stop the threat and save his people.

On his journey, Sylvain encounters the Deformed, a race of mutants born from Gandaharian experiments. The two groups are wary of each other, yet they share a common threat in the Men of Metal.

Despite their resentment, the Deformed decide to help Sylvain. They recognize a mutual danger from the Metal army and offer their knowledge and protection on the quest.

Sylvain saves Airelle, a Gandaharian woman, during an early encounter. Together they discover the Men of Metal's base and learn that frozen Gandaharians are transported through a portal to be assimilated with the metal army.

They stow away on a boat heading toward the middle of the ocean. On the voyage they meet Metamorphis, a giant brain who denies leadership but explains he does not desire Gandahar's fall and hints at a deeper connection to the Men of Metal.

Sylvain and Airelle are captured and brought back to Jasper. Metamorphis asserts he did not create or command the attack, but he wants time to understand the link between himself and the Men of Metal.

Back in Jasper, Sylvain is ordered to kill Metamorphis with a special syringe. Metamorphis confirms that the Men of Metal originate from the future via the portal, and he asks Sylvain to kill him in a thousand years because the syringe would be ineffective now.

A thousand years later, Sylvain awakens as promised. The Deformed explain the true nature of the Men of Metal: Metamorphis's aged cells cannot regenerate, so he created the army to harvest Gandaharian cells from the past to prolong his life.

Sylvain and the Deformed join forces to oppose Metamorphis and rescue the remaining Gandaharians. The Deformed fight the Metal army to buy time for Sylvain to confront their creator.

The Deformed destroy the reservoir that provides Metamorphis with new cells, distracting him long enough for Sylvain to inject the syringe and kill Metamorphis. The threat of the Metal army collapses as Metamorphis dies.

With Metamorphis defeated, Gandaharians, Airelle, and the Deformed escape through the portal back to their time. The alliance has saved Gandahar and ended the threat once and for all.
