Director of the Paris Opera, Stéphane Lissner, commissions visual artist Clément Cogitore to stage the opera-ballet Les Indes galantes. Drawing from his short film, Cogitore reimagines Jean-Philippe Rameau’s 1735 baroque masterpiece by fusing classical lyricism with contemporary urban dance. Choreographer Bintou Dembélé leads dancers specializing in styles like krump, popping, voguing, and experimental hip hop. The film documents the collaborative process, from rehearsals to the premiere, exploring the intersection of urban dance and the traditional opera world, offering a unique artistic and human experience.
