Musidora’s biggest project adapts Pierre Benoît’s novel set in the late‑19th‑century clash of Carlists and Bourbons in Spain. Co‑directed and financed by Spanish noble Jacques Lasseyne, it was filmed in the Basque Country in 1920. It was shortened for Paris and Madrid releases in December 1921. It sparked Musidora’s affection for Spain, introduced bullfighter Antonio Cañero as technical adviser, and led her to shoot all later films there until 1926.
