DramaHistory

Based on the life of Father António Vieira, born in Lisbon in 1608 and dying in Salvador, Bahia, in 1697, he is hailed as Brazil’s first writer and a towering figure in Portuguese linguistics, famed for his masterful metaphor and analogy. His outspoken opposition to indigenous slavery, anti‑Jewish intolerance, and colonial exploitation led the Portuguese Inquisition to persecute and condemn him.
