A professor hires two poor law students to steal a rare figurine from a collector’s home for a fee. After the theft succeeds, the professor dies of joy and the students return the object. Visiting the collector they meet his daughters, tell lies, and learn the plot was a wager between the professor and the collector. Both fall in love with the daughters.
