Final Mission

During the Vietnam War, decorated soldier Vince Deacon discovers fellow soldier Slater has become a traitor and joined the Viet Cong. Deacon beats and captures Slater, who vows revenge. The revelation of treachery sets the stage for years of animosity.

Years after the war, Deacon is married with a son and serves as an LAPD SWAT captain known for his violence in the line of duty. His reputation follows him into civilian life.

Slater, now a crime boss, discovers Deacon's whereabouts and sends thugs to his home. Deacon defends his family by killing one of them, an act that triggers his suspension from the force.

Deacon and his family take a vacation to camp near a lake. Slater orchestrates a bombing that kills Deacon's wife and son, devastating the family.

Driven by vengeance, Deacon tracks Slater to the small California mountain town of Pinesville. He begins a tense pursuit, facing resistance from local deputies and townspeople.

In Pinesville, Deacon learns that the local sheriff is Slater's brother and that he tolerates Slater's criminal activities. This revelation complicates Deacon's pursuit.

As the pursuit wears on, Deacon slips into shell shock and begins to believe he is still in Vietnam. His grip on reality weakens while he grinds forward with his vendetta.

Deacon gathers weapons and hides them in the woods near town, signaling a shift to a one-man war against Slater's gang. He later steals a high-powered rifle from a local gun shop.

Deacon fights his way through Slater's operations as a battle overruns the town. He ultimately kills Slater, ending the immediate threat he posed.

With Slater dead, his brother, the sheriff, calls in the National Guard to quell the escalating violence and restore order. The move signals the town's vulnerability and the reach of the vendetta beyond Slater.

Deacon retreats into the woods surrounding the town as deputies and Guardsmen close in. He remains relentless, evading capture while the manhunt continues.

Deacon's former superior, Colonel Cain, arrives and tries to end the confrontation through dialogue. He seeks to de-escalate the violence and offer a path to surrender.

Cain is shot dead during the attempt to reach Deacon, removing the negotiator and escalating the crisis. Deacon’s grip on reality shatters further as the standoff continues.

With Cain dead and surrounded, Deacon unleashes a hail of bullets, wounding several attackers but ignoring pleas to surrender. He fights on as the encircling forces advance, a man broken in mind and body.
