Willa Weston arrives in Atlanta with high hopes of embarking on a prestigious career at a newly acquired company. However, her excitement soon turns to disappointment when Rod McCain, the enigmatic owner, reveals that he has already sold the company.

Willa, undeterred by the setbacks, agrees to take charge of Marwood Zoo, one of Rod's newest acquisitions. Her objective is to develop a sustainable business model that could potentially be implemented in multiple zoological facilities across the country.

Vincent, Rod's son, becomes infatuated with Willa and plans to accompany her at the zoo. His presence adds a layer of complexity to the work environment as he attempts to charm Willa while also grappling with his father's expectations.

Rollo Lee, the new director and a retired Hong Kong police officer, proposes a bold strategy for the zoo: adopting a 'fierce creatures' theme. This strategy aims to boost revenue but calls for the removal of the kinder animals, which sparks controversy among the staff.

Animal keepers, including Bugsy the spider-handler, attempt to persuade Rollo to reconsider his plan. Their desperate measures to save the friendlier animals from removal lead to a failed ruse, showcasing the tensions brewing within the zoo.

As Rollo tries to enforce discipline, tensions escalate within the staff. This becomes evident when warnings shots are fired to regain control, leading to chaos when a visitor suffers an actual accident in the zoo.

Appalled by Rollo's reckless behavior, Willa and Vincent decide to demote him to middle management. Vincent even threatens Rollo with termination if he continues his dangerous practices, illustrating the deteriorating workplace dynamics.

Determined to revamp the zoo's image, Vincent launches a peculiar marketing campaign. This includes dressing staff in ridiculous outfits and introducing an artificial panda, aiming to impress Willa while boosting visitor numbers.

Amidst the chaos, Willa develops an unexpected bond with a silverback gorilla. This emotional connection deepens, even as she begins to admire Rollo's charismatic leadership style, complicating her feelings.

Concerned about the looming threat to the zoo, Willa, Rollo, and the keepers attempt to eavesdrop on Rod's conversations. They discover Rod's alarming intentions to sell the zoo to Japanese investors and plans for cryogenic preservation, putting the facility's future in jeopardy.

Willa confronts Vincent about embezzling funds meant for zoo sponsorship, presenting him with an ultimatum to return the money. This confrontation sets the stage for heightened tension as the stakes rise among the characters.

A passionate kiss shared between Willa and Rollo marks a significant turning point in their relationship. Just as their romantic moment unfolds, Vincent interjects, returning the embezzled funds, leading to a chaotic scene.

The chaos culminates when Rod informs everyone that the police are coming to arrest Vincent for theft. Attempts by Vincent to regain control result in a series of accidents, including Bugsy mistakenly shooting Rod.

In a frantic bid to avoid disaster, the zookeepers create a scheme to disguise Vincent as Rod, using his impersonation skills to fool the police. This deception paves the way for a forged will that secures the zoo's future under their control.

With Vincent now posing as the CEO of Octopus and the keepers free from Rod's management, Willa and Rollo embark on a new chapter. They are committed to continuing their stewardship of the zoo, finding fulfillment in their roles.
