FernGully 2: The Magical Rescue

Crysta demonstrates her ability to care for and control nature by taking care of three baby animals. She and Pips begin a friendly contest to see who can grow the more impressive plant, showcasing their love for the natural world. Pips also expresses a curiosity to explore more of the outside world beyond FernGully.

Suddenly, Batty Koda arrives in a panic, warning the inhabitants that human poachers are nearby. The poachers show up with their dogs and quickly set traps, capturing the three baby animals. This event marks the start of a dangerous threat to the forest and its creatures.

The initial effort to rescue the baby animals taken by the poachers in FernGully fails, resulting in a large forest fire that destroys a significant part of the forest. The fire also scars Mother Kangaroo, illustrating the destructive impact of the poachers on the environment.

Realizing the danger, Pips and the Beetle Boys volunteer to follow the humans into town to rescue the baby animals. They persuade Batty to guide them, despite his initial reluctance, setting the stage for their adventure in the human world.

The animals arrive at a bustling town amusement park, where they are captivated by the rides and modern utilities. Their fascination causes them to momentarily forget their rescue mission, but Batty reminds them of their purpose to save the animals.

While healing the rainforest, Crysta finds and befriends Boof, a dog caught in a trap and abandoned by the poachers. She takes Boof on a journey to the town, showing her compassion for animals affected by human exploitation.

Pips and the beetle group meet a girl named Budgie, who is practicing her clown act. She offers them shelter in her trailer, and they bond over their shared love for animals and performing, adding a human element to their adventure.

The group locates the poachers' hideout, but they are too mesmerized by modern human utilities to act immediately. Bark and Batty try to rescue the animals, with Batty ultimately getting caught. Meanwhile, Budgie learns to perform her clown act with more confidence.

Budgie successfully jumps onto the poachers' truck and frees the animals from their cages. She then drives after the truck, helping the animals escape and risking her safety, demonstrating her courage and compassion for her new friends.

The group arrives at an old warehouse where the animals are being loaded onto a boat. Budgie's grandfather drives after them just in time to help her and her friends free the animals. A struggle ensues between the poachers and the group over control of the cages.

During the chaos, Budgie gets trapped on a truck tarp hanging off a cliff. Batty lifts her to safety with great effort, illustrating their bravery and teamwork. Budgie's grandfather catches them in his net, ensuring their safety on solid ground.

The animals and fairies work together to open the cages and facilitate their escape onto a boat. Budgie's grandfather drives the boat away, and the fairies use magic to stop the boat from growing into a giant tree, saving the animals from a new threat.

The poachers attempt to recapture the animals, but the fairies' magic and the bravery of the group help ensure their escape. Nugget almost drowns during the chaotic escape, but the animals are ultimately safe and free from the poachers' grasp.

Budgie and her grandfather adopt Slasher and Boof, giving them new homes. All the animals and fairies return to FernGully, grateful for their adventure and the rescue efforts that saved their lives, restoring peace to their forest home.
